Ajay Jayaram beats Sho Sasaki in quarter finals of the Korean Open Super Series played at Korea just few moments ago. It was an excellent performance by Jayaram who came back after trailing back in the first game by huge margin. Jayaram moves into the semi finals of Super Series event after a long time.
In the first game Jayaram got the first point and soon after Saskai equaled at 1-1. Jayaram asked for a review for in and the decision was upheld. Sasaki then got 2 successive points for 3-1 lead as Jayaram looked nervous making unforced errors. Saskai continued to dominate and took a 7-3. After that he 3 consecutive points for 10-3 lead. At the interval Saskai led 11-4. After the interval Saskai made a lot of mistakes and Jayaram 7 consecutive points to reduce the gap to only 1 point at 11-12 in favor of Saskai. Both players took alternate points till 17-15. Jayaram showed resolve and from being 18-19 down took 4 consecutive points to take first game 21-19.
In the second game Saskai got the first point and immediately Jayaram equaled at 1-1. Sasaki made a lot of unforced errors. Jayaram then took 5 straight points for a 6-1 lead. Saskai made a great comeback and took 5 successive points to equal the score at 6-6. Sasaki played some attacking badminton hitting smashes and drop shots. Sasaki took a slender lead of 11-10 at the interval. After the interval Sasaki took 6 successive points for 19-13 lead. Jayaram tried to comeback in the game but Sasaki won the second game 21-16 and force into the deciding game.
In the deciding game both players started off well taking alternate points till 4-4. Saskai took 2 successive points for 6-5 lead. Saskai continued to maintain 2 points lead. Sasaki was leading 9-7 as Jayaram 3 successive points for 9-10 lead for Saskai. At the interval Jayaram led 11-10. After the interval Jayaram continued to dominate and won the third game 21-16. With this he moved to the semi finals of Korean Open Super Series.
