Defedning champion Saina Nehwal lost to Wang Sxighan in straight sets 15-21,13-21 in the quarter finals of the Australian Open Series in Sydney just few moments ago. It was a disappointing performance by Saina as she was not at her very best against the top quality player. She was struggling to match the speed of the Chinese player.

It was very close to call as both of them took alternate points to make 8-8 before Saina took the lead for the first time at 9-8. At the changeover Wang took a slender lead of 11-10. After the interval Wang did not allow Saina to comeback in the game and dominated.Wang took a commanding 16-11 lead and won the set, match 21-13.

This performance by Saina today was not her best in the previous 3 to 4 months. She needs to work on her fitness if she has to beat much fitter opponent in the upcoming tournaments. She had won this tournament last year
