K Srikanth loses to Victor Axslen of Denmark in the BWF Super Series finals played in Dubai yesterday. It was a poor performance by K Srikanth who was outplayed in all departments despite a good effort in the second game.
In the first game, Victor Axslen began off well taking the first two points. Srikanth came back well to take the first point. Axslen then took a 4-1 lead. Victor always maintained the lead in the first few points of the match. Axslen was leading 9-6, but Srikanth came back strongly to equal the scoring at 10-10. At the interval, Victor had a slender lead of 11-10. After the interval, Victor dominated Srikanth and did not allow the Indian to come back into the match. The Denmark player raced to 16-11 lead. Victor won the first set 21-13 easily.
In the second game, Axslen began well taking the first two points before Srikanth opened his account. Victor then took 4 points in succession to take a 6-1 lead. Srikanth took 3 points in succession to reduce the gap to 4-6. Axslen dominated the Indian player. At the interval, Axslen led 11-5. After the interval, Axslen continued to dominate Srikanth. Srikanth tried to come back into the match by reducing the gap to 18-20, but Axslen managed to win the match 21-18.
With this loss, Srikanth needs to win the last match against Chou Chen Tien of Chinese Taipei.
