The Indian pair of Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy lost to Chinese pair Lu Kai and Kai Yun in straight sets 9-21,7-21 in the first round of the BWF World Championship played at Jakarta just few hours ago. The Indian pair just were not allowed to play natural game and made a lot of unforced errors.
In the first game the Chinese pair started off in aggressive manner taking 3-0 lead. Manu Attri/ Sumeeth Reddy took a point but the Lu Kai/Cai Yun dominated the game. The Chinese took 2 more points and stretched their lead to 5-2. The Chinese pair then took 6 successive points. At the interval Lu Kai/Cai Yun took a commanding 11-2 lead. After the interval the Chinese pair continued their domination. Both pairs took 3 alternate points each for a 15-5 lead for Chinese pair. Lu Kai/Cai Yun just took few minutes to wrap up the first game 21-9.
In the second game the Chinese pair again took a 3-0 lead. Manu Attri/Sumeeth Reddy took 2 points but the Chinese pair then took 4 successive points for a 8-2 lead. At the interval the Chinese pair led 11-4. After the interval the Chinese pair played attacking badminton. The Indian pair made a lot of unforced errors. The Chinese pair won the game 21-7.
Manu Attri and Sumeeth had some great results prior to this tournament but they failed to live up to the expectations.
