Indians at Indonesian Grand Prix Gold event

The Indians had a pretty decent second day at the Indonesian Grand Prix Gold event earlier today. In men’s singles, Guru Sai Dutt and K Srikanth progressed into the third round while HS Prannoy was knocked out in the second round. In women’s singles, PV Sindhu played some excellent badminton and progressed into the quarter-finals of the tournament.

In men’s singles, K Srikanth took on Saputra of Indonesia. In the first K Srikanth was aggressive with his badminton and never allowed Saputra to come back into the match. At the interval, K Srikanth led 11-8. After the interval, K Srikanth dominated and won the first set 21-14. In the second game, Saptura came back strongly and played some excellent badminton. At the interval, Saputra led 11-9. After the interval, Saptura continued his domination and won the second set 21-17. In the deciding game, it was neck to neck battle as both players fought for each point. At the interval, Srikanth led 11-10. After the interval, the battle continued for each point before Srikanth held his nerve to win third set 25-23 and move into the third round.

Guru Sai Dutt took on Loh K-Y. In the first game, Guru Sai Dutt showed aggressive intent and played some excellent badminton. At the interval, Guru Sai Dutt led 11-10. After the interval, Guru Sai Dutt did not slip the match away and won the first set 21-19. In the second game, Loh K-Y came back strongly to put pressure on the Indian player. At the interval, Loh led 11-10. After the interval, Guru Sai Dutt tried to come back but Loh won the second set 21-19. In the third game, Guru Sai Dutt again showed aggressive intent and never allowed Loh to come back into the match. At the interval, Guru Sai Dutt led 11-9. After the interval, Guru Sai Dutt continued his domination and won the third set 21-15 progressing into the third round.

HS Prannoy took Shi YQ of China. In the first Shi YQ played aggressive badminton and never gave HS Prannoy a chance. At the interval, Shi YQ led 11-5. After the interval, Shi YQ continued his domination and won the first set 21-12. In the second game, it was a neck to neck as both players fought for each point. At the interval, HS Prannoy led 11-10. After the interval, the fight for each point continued before HS Prannoy took the second set 22-20. In the third game, Shi YQ raised his game and never allowed HS Prannoy to come back into the match. At the interval, Shi YQ led 11-6. After the interval, Shi YQ was aggressive and won the third set 21-13 easily.

In the last match of the day, PV Sindhu took on Sukoputri. In the first game, PV Sindhu dominated her opponent and was aggressive with her badminton. At the interval, PV Sindhu led 11-6. After the interval, PV Sindhu dominated and won the first set 21-12. In the second game, the same trend continued as PV Sindhu dominated her opponent. At the interval, PV Sindhu led 11-3. After the interval, PV Sindhu finished the match and won it 21-9 easily progressing into the quarter-finals of the tournament.
