The Indian pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponappa lost in the second round to the Chinese pair of Tian and Zhao 21-10,21-13 in the All England Badminton Championship. It was a dominating performance by the Chinese pair as the Indians were not able to match their speed and agility.
In the first game the Chinese began off to a positive start not giving the Indian pair a chance. They played some aggressive game. At the interval it was 10-5 in favor of Chinese. After the interval the Chinese pair dominated the game and won the first game 21-10.
In the second game the Chinese again began off to a positive note. The Chinese pair played attacking game. At the interval it 11-6 in favor of the Chinese. After the interval Gutta and Ponappa tried to comeback in the game but the Chinese pair again showed their class. They won the game 21-13 and with this the Chinese pair entered the quarter finals of the prestigious tournament.
After an good start from the Indian pair, the Chinese made some light work of them and just did not allow the Indian pair to play their game. The Indian women’s pair needs to work on their fitness and stamina if they have to challenge the Chinese.
