After Marin lost her semi finals clash against Rachton Inaton Saina Nehwal becomes the number one ranked player in the World officially. She will play her semi finals against Hashimto after 30 minutes. It is a great moment for Indian Badminton to see an Indian women shuttler to climb to number one rank spot after a long time.

Carolina Marin lost in a grueling three 19-21, 23-21 and 20-22. She creates history by becoming the first non Chinese player to take the number 1 spot in women’s singles ranking. It is great news for Indian badminton fans to see Saina Nehwal at the top of rankings. This news came just few moments ago. She started her badminton career in 2006 and reached among the top ten in 2009. In September 2014 she changed her coach from Gopi Chand to VimalKumar. Between then from rank no 7 she moved to no 2 in the World before Indian opne started on 25 March 2015. Now the moment has arrived when an Indian female badminton player has occupied the number ranked player officially. The BWF rankings will be updated on Thursday and on that list Saina Nehwal will be officially the number 1 ranked player in the World. These computer rankings came in 2002 and nobody thought that Indian women shuttler would be number 1 in the World and the dream has been realized by Saina Nehwal.  In the recent years Saina and Sindhu have been struggling hard at international level.

This is wonderful news for Indian fans to see an Indian player at the top of rankings in women’s singles and it will be a challenge for Saina to maintain these rankings with her consistent performance in the upcoming tournaments in 2015. Apart from Saina India can count of Sindhu PV in the world ranking. Though Indian men occupied number one position but it was in the year when official numbering was not in vogue.
