Indian ace and World number 1 ranked player Saina Nehwal was awarded a cash price of Rs 25 Lakhs from the sports ministry for reaching the finals of the All England Badminton championship held in March this year.

She became one and only women from India to reach the finals of the prestigious tournament where she lost to Spain’s Carolina Marin at Birmingham. It is big achievement for Saina Nehwal who has played some excellent badminton this year winning 2 titles and reaching the finals of All England Badminton Championship.

The ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports have given a cash award of Rupees 25 lakhs to Saina Nehwal for her runners up position in All England Badminton Championship held in UK from 8 March to 13 March 2015.

Prakash Padukone and Pulliela Gopichand had won the men’s singles title of this prestigious tournament in 1980 and 2001 respectively.

It is a great achievement and one needs to take care that she was struggling in 2014 but her hardwork and dedication has helped her to reach such heights. I am sure that Saina Nehwal will lead India to many such glories in the upcoming tournaments and be a role model for the youngsters.
