India’s hope in men’s singles K Srikanth lost to Chinese Tian in straight sets 14-21, 18-21 in the second round of Malaysian Open Super Series at Kulala Lumpur just here few moments. Srikanth was not at his best and made too many mistakes in the match.

In the first set Tian began off a great start taking a lead. Tian was 7-6 up in the first game and continued to play an aggressive game to put pressure on the Indian player. At the interval it was 11-10 in favor of Tian. After the interval Tian played some aggressive points and took a comfortable lead of 19-13. Tian won the first game 21-14.

In the second game Srikanth took the first point. After that both of them equaled at 3-3. Srikanth then played some aggressive badminton to take a 7-3 lead which put the Chinese on the backfoot. Both of them took alternate points from 7-3 to 10-7 in favor of Srikanth. Tian took 3 successive points to make it 10-10. At the interval Srikanth lead 11-10. After the interval the Chinese 4 successive points to make 14-12. Srikanth made a lot of mistakes and Tian took the advantage. The final rally of the match was the best moment as both of them played 60 shots and finally Tian won the point. Tian won the match 21-18.

The other Indians Jwala Gutta/ Ponappa, HS Prannoy and P Kashyap also lost out in the second round matches. Saina Nehwal was the only to reach the quarter final stages.
