2014-15 Ranji Trophy: Jammu and Kashmir creates History as Delhi, Punjab and Karnataka post thumping wins

Defending Champions Karnataka, Delhi, Punjab, Assam and HimachalPradesh post huge wins in their first round Ranji Trophy matches. Jammu and Kashmir created history be defeating 40 time Champions Mumbai by 4 wickets and registered a win in the first encounter between the two sides in thehistory of Ranji Trophy. Sreenath Aravind’s Hat-Trick sinks Tamil Nadu

Defending Champions Karnataka crushed their southern neighbours Tamil Nadu by 285 runs in their first round match at Bengaluru. In the first hour of play, Manish Pandey and Stuart Binny pressed on the accelerator as they steered Karnataka to a lead of 368. Karnataka declared when Stuart Binny got out for 68 ball 77 in the seventh over of the day. Chasing 368, Karnataka bowlers were in a leather hunt as they put TN on the back-foot straight away. They kept on losing wickets at regular intervals as they were bundled out for a partly 82. Left arm pacer Sreenath Aravind Malolan Rangarajan, L Balaji and M Mohammad off the successive balls to complete an hat-trick.

Jammu and Kashmir creates history at Wankhade Stadium

Jammu and Kashmir caused an upset in their first round 2014-15 Ranji Trophy match as they defeated the 40 time Ranji Trophy Champions Mumbai by 4 wickets at the Wankhade stadium, Mumbai. They also created history by defeating Mumbai in their first ever encounter in the 80-year history of the tournament. Chasing 237 to book a place in history, Shubham Khajuria gave the visitors a great start before Hardeep Singh batted sensibly towards the end to take his side home.

At Patiala: Punjab 270 and 330-6 decl. beat Haryana 283 and 200 (Sachin Rana 86, Sandeep Sharma 3-30, Rajwinder Golu 3-54) by 120 runs. Points: Punjab 6, Haryana 0.
