With the 2014 ICC World Twenty20 is nearing its crucial stage; the teams are toiling very hard for a spot in semi-finals. The 2014 World Cup T20 began a week ago and the extravaganza has moved into its final stage. Ten teams took part in the tournament and only four teams can progress to the next round. Here is where the teams stand after the first half of the 2014 World Cup T20.

Let’s first analysis the teams in Group 1:

England:

The Poms were virtually knocked out of the tournament after their 3 run loss to South Africa on Saturday. They have a match left and will face The Netherlands in the dead rubber on Monday.

Netherlands:

The Dutch humiliated Ireland in the qualifying round and got their place in the Super 10’s. But they are not performing up to the mark as they reached a new low against Sri Lanka, the match in which they were all out for just 39. They even went on to lose their next two matches and face England in their final Group 1 encounter on Monday.

South Africa:

With 6 points from 4 matches in their kitty, South Africa became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals from Group 1. Even then, they will finish the group as the runners up courtesy their less Net Run Rate when compared to Sri Lanka and New Zealand.

Sri Lanka/ New Zealand:

Both the teams have 4 points each and have equal chances of making it to the last four. With both these teams face each other on Monday, the clash now becomes a virtual quarter-finals as the winner of the match will finish the group as winners and qualify for the semis.

Here is how the teams stand in Group 2:

Australia:

The Aussies came into the tournament as the favorites and they failed to live up to their expectations. They scored heavily but lost both their matches and were knocked out of the tournament inspite of having two matches in hand. They are facing India tonight and play against Bangladesh on Tuesday.

Bangladesh:

The hosts failed to impress in the 2014 ICC World T20 and were knocked out after losing their first three games. They still have one game left and will take on Australia in a dead rubber on Tuesday.

India:

With 6 points from 3 matches in their kitty, India became the first team to qualify for the semi-finals and were unbeaten in the tournament.
