2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Sachin Tendulkar, Harbhajan Singh Lauds Virat Kohli’s Charity Initiative

After a commendable win against Pakistan, India captain Virat Kohli organised a charity dinner in London.

Kohli has been closely associated with charity activities while also starting the Virat Kohli Foundation to raise funds for kids a while back.

“We set it up quite a while back but to get it rolling it was very important that we start raising funds in a big way. My vision was to provide for the underprivileged kids,” Kohli said.

The Indian team was also in full attendance with MS Dhoni, Sachin Tendulkar and Harbhajan Singh. Also in the attendance was India opener Rohit Sharma’s wife his Ritika Sajdeh and Shikhar Dhawan’s wife Ayesha Mukherjee.

His initiative was applauded by Sachin himself.

“Great initiative undertaken by @imVkohli to fight human trafficking. A cause we must all contribute towards. Loved being a part of the event,” Tendulkar tweeted.

 

 

 

Kohli was grateful for Tendulkar’s presence.

“Thank you so much Paaji for supporting us by being there, it was an honor to host you,” Kohli replied to the tweet.

Harbhajan also praised the Londoners for their support to Kohli’s initiative.

“Well done #Londoners for raising more then half a million fr my brother @imVkohli s foundation.was a pleasure being there #EndTrafficking,” tweeted Bhajji.

 

“Thank you Bhajju Paa for being there, hope you had a good time,” Kohli replied to Bhajji’s tweet.

Stand-up comedian Vikram Sathaye, who was one of the hosts for the event, doffed his hat to Kohli.

“Thanks @imVkohli for including me in the team for this cause!Hats off for raising half a million to rehabilitate human trafficking victims !” he tweeted.

Kohli then thanked all those involved for the success of the charity event.

“We had a great event last night in London. I would like to thank everyone who made this event possible. Thank you to all the sponsors for supporting something so close to my heart. A special thanks for all the generous donations made. Together, we can & will make a difference,” Kohli tweeted.

Justice and Care as a charity are aimed at fighting fight human trafficking to tackle it at every level with the strong belief that “slavery can be ended”. The organisation has joined hands with Virat Kohli Foundation in order to provide essential care to survivors of modern slavery.

The target of the charity event in London was to provide a safe place to stay, rehabilitation, counselling, vital medical care, schooling and vocational training for those rescued in India.
