2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Twitter Reacts As Hardik Pandya Powers India To Big Total Against Bangladesh
May 30, 2017 at 7:14 PM
Hardik Pandya scored a blistering half-century while Dinesh Karthik roared back to form with a 94-run knock, as defending champions India recovered from a poor start to post a massive 324 for 7 in the second warm-up game against Bangladesh at Oval.
After being asked to bat first, the Men in Blue went off to a poor start with Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane departing cheaply. Rohit, who was playing his first game since the ODI series against New Zealand in October last year, lasted just 2 balls before being clean bowled by Rubel Hossain. On the other hand, Rahane, who had failed to score big in the first warm-up game too, once again faltered with the bat and was bowled by Mustafizur Rahman for 11.
Shikhar Dhawan and Dinesh Karthik then steadied the ship with a century-stand. Both the batsmen scored at a brisk pace especially Karthik to set the tone for a good total before the partnership came to an end when Dhawan fell to Sunzamul Islam while trying to play a big shot. The southpaw scored 60 off 67 balls with the help of 7 fours. Another good partnership between Karthik and Kedar Jadhav put India into a commanding position in the match. The duo added 75 runs in just 61 balls. Sunzamul broke the promising partnership by dismissing Jadhav 31 and Karthik soon joined his teammates in the dressing room after being retired out for a 77-ball 94 runs knock.
Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya then took the onus on themselves to guide India to a good total and they did it in style. Both the batsmen mixed caution with aggression to keep the scoreboard ticking at a good rate and added 98 runs for the fifth wicket before Jadeja was dismissed for 32. Pandya was looking in good touch right from the start and made the most of it by scoring 80 off just 54 balls to steer India to a huge total.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
Top finish. That India got to 324/7 without Kohli, Dhoni, Rohit should please them. Hardik Pandya, Dinesh Karthik used the chance well.

Options always a good headache for captain but this is too much for Kohli. How is he going to select the XI with everyone in good knick

Virat Kohli has aggressions like Ganguly. He also has calmness like Dhoni. Today he showed, he also has leadership like Dravid.

Dinesh Karthik, lucky to have made the squad, serves notice within his own team and beyond that he could be the man to watch in #CT17
