2017 ICC Champions Trophy: Watch: MS Dhoni’s Lighting Quick Run-Out To Dismiss AB de Villiers Cheaply

After Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock had given a solid start to South Africa in the must-win game against India in the final group game, the stage was set for AB de Villiers to guide his team to a big total. The batting star had failed to score in the first couple of matches and with David Miller already issuing a warning that the big innings was due from the South Africa skipper, India desperately needed his wicket at the earliest.
What was even worrying for the Men in Blue was the way in which de Villiers began his innings. The hard-hitting batsman had already raced away to 16 off just 12 balls and just when it looked like he was getting ready for the big innings, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the man of all occasions, rose to the occasion and affected a brilliant run out to send back the dangerous batsman for just 16.
After Faf du Plessis played a Ravindra Jadeja delivery softly towards the point, he called his skipper for a quick single. De Villiers, who was having an issue with a hamstring before the match, responded straight away but in the meantime, Hardik Pandya sent in a bullet of throw and even through de Villiers made a valiant dive, he was caught well-shot of the crease courtesy of MS Dhoni’s lighting quick glovework.
Here is a clip of that wicket:
