After giving India a flying start in the ongoing semifinal against Bangladesh by dismissing Soumya Sarkar for a duck, Bhuvneshwar Kumar put the defending champions in a commanding position by sending back Sabbir Rahman cheaply too.
With his team in a precarious position in such a big game, Sabbir began his innings on a positive note, hitting the very first ball he faced for a four. And in no time, he raced away to 19 with the help of four overs. But all of a sudden he and his partner Tamim Iqbal found the going tough as Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Jasprit Bumrah bowled a tight line, not allowing the batsmen to collect the runs. The sixth over bowled by Bumrah was a maiden and in the following over Bhuvneshwar bowled 4 dot balls before the pressure got the better of Shabbir as he squandered the good start by throwing away his wicket. Looking to cut a wide delivery from Bhuvneshwar, Rahman went all out for the shot but in doing so, one of his hands came off the bat handle and he could only offer the easiest of the catches to backward-point where Ravindra Jadeja made no mistake. And as soon as the wicket fell, a charged up Virat Kohli did not hesitate in showing his emotions as he was seen launching a series of expletives in celebration.
Here is a clip of that wicket and Kohli’s celebration:
