2017 IPL Auction Pushed Till The End Of February

The auction for the upcoming edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has been pushed back by a period of a week or two and is now understood to be conducted between February 20 to 25. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is yet to come up with any official announcement regarding this.
However, the four-member panel led by Vinod Rai has given that the cash-rich tournament will start from its original date i.e. April 5.
A delay in appointment of the administrators by the Supreme Court of India is understood to be the reason behind the same. The situation was created after the apex court, in an order announced on January 2, sacked BCCI President Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke, after which all the preparations for the tournament and the auction were in deep trouble. However, the panel has now given the green signal to the tournament but the auction has been delayed, due to unavoidable reasons.
It’s a blessing in disguise for the IPL franchises as now they’ll have extra time to search for some new players in the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy and also the inter-zonal league, which will follow the T20 tournament.
