Cricket could turn ugly at times and has once again claimed the life of a youngster in Hyderabad in a recent event.
Many a youth had been losing their cool while playing gentleman’s game these days and similar incidents are being reported on a consistent basis especially in the subcontinent countries.
The incident took place at Mir Alam Eidgah Maidan in Bahadurpura, Hyderabad where Abdul Wajid, a 21-year old has lost his life.
The tragic event took place on Sunday and Wajid was immediately taken to the hospital. However, the victim has lost his life on Tuesday after battling for two days.
It is believed that Wajid was hit by the bat before he fell on stones in a ground where multiple teams are playing in different places.
“After being hit, he fell down on the wickets constructed using stones and fell unconscious. He was taken to a state-run hospital, where he died. Whether it was an accident or he was allegedly hit by someone from another team is being probed,” Bahadurpura inspector T Laxminarayana said.
Police suggest based on eyewitnesses, Wajid was running to take a catch but ran onto another pitch where he was accidentally hit by the bat and fell on stones which caused injuries on his forehead.
Wajid’s brother has filed a case in the police station which was registered as a grievous injury but after the death of Wajid, the case has been modified to a case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder.
However, police have confirmed that they will enquire about the case from all angles before producing evidence.
“We are probing the case from all angles,” the officer said.
We hope that these sort of incidents could only be reduced in the coming months as there has been a steep rise in these cases and youngsters are losing their valuable lives.
