Stats: Five fastest T20 fifties in international matches


  • In the 2nd T20 match between New Zealand and Sri Lanka on 10th January 2016, Collin Munro hit the one of the fastest T20 fifty scoring 50 off just 14 balls.     1. Yuvraj Singh

    Yuvraj Singh, one of the explosive Indian batsmen in cricket, is the quickest batsman to score fastest fifty in international matches. He scored 50 off just 12 balls against England during the ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. He came to the crease and just dominated the English bowling attack. During that innings, he hit six consecutive sixes in a row off Stuart Broad. He came to bat with India in need of runs and took on to hitting right from the word go. Yuvraj Singh looked in brilliant form and never allowed the English bowlers to deliver dot balls. During that innings, he hit 7 sixes and 3 fours. He scored 58 off 14 balls which helped the Indian team to post a big total of 218 for 4. The match between these nations was played on 19th September 2007 at Durban. His strike rate during that match was 362.50.

    2. Collin Munro

    Collin Munro a left-handed batsman from New Zealand smashed the second fastest fifty in T20 matches. He scored 50 off 14 balls and attacked the Sri Lankan bowlers and dispatched the ball to all parts of the ground at Eden Park, Auckland. He came at number 3 in the batting order, when NZ was 89 for 1 and made the batting look easy. During the innings, he hit 1 four and 7 sixes. His innings helped New Zealand to win the match by 9 wickets and 10 overs to spare. It was an excellent knock from Munro after Guptill gave the team a flying start. His strike rate during today’s match was 357.14

    3. Paul Stirling

    Paul Stirling another hard hitting batsman from Ireland scored 50 off 17 balls against Afghanistan in the ICC World T20 qualifiers in 2012. His strike rate during that innings was 207.89. He made the bowling look ridiculous and trashed all the bowlers. During that innings, he smashed 9 fours and 3 sixes which helped Ireland chase down the target of 156. He was finally dismissed for 79 off 38 balls. 

    4. Myburgh

    Myburgh, a hard hitting left handed batsman from Netherlands, scored 50 off 17 balls. He opened the innings during that time and smashed the Irish bowlers to all parts of the ground. His strike during that innings was 273.91. During that innings, he smashed 4 fours and 7 sixes which gave the perfect platform for the Netherlands innings. He was dismissed for 63 off 29 balls. This innings came against Ireland in the group stage of ICC World T20 in 2014.

    5. Chris Gayle  

    Chris Gayle, a well known West Indian Batsman, is another name indicative of explosive batting. He scored fifth fastest fifty off just 17 balls against South Africa at Cape Town on the 9th of January 2015. Though he scored 50 off 17 balls but his strike rate fell down subsequently and was 248.38 during that match. He is a hard hitter and can destroy any bowling attack on his day. He opened the innings for West Indies and smashed the South African attack to all parts of the ground. During that innings he smashed 5 fours and 8 sixes helping West Indies to win the match by 4 wickets. He was dismissed for 77 off just 31 balls.
