Suresh Raina was one of the most important players in India’s limited overs team. The first Indian to score a century in T20 Internationals, Raina was a surprise omission from India’s recent T20I series against the West Indies in the US. But one cannot blame the selectors as the southpaw has failed to perform with the bat recently and now find himself in a tough position. He is currently playing the Duleep Trophy and scored 35 and 90 in the first match against India Red but the usual flair was missing from his game.
With Raina getting a call from the team management soon looking bleak, we are having a look on five players who can replace one of the best finishers of the Indian team
The first Indian to score a century in Indian Premier League, Manish Pandey’s ability to score runs at a fast pace is well known. His electric fielding is another reason to consider him as a regular in the Indian team. In the 2014 final of IPL he played another whirlwind knock to help Kolkata Knight Riders defeat Kings XI Punjab.
The right-handed batsman went from strength to strength and played a major role in Karnataka’s rise as undisputed leaders of the domestic circuit. In July 2015 Pandey made his international debut in Harare. But his biggest moment came in Australia earlier this year when his unbeaten maiden ODI century helped India gun down Australia’s 330 with two balls to spare. He has also been appointed as India A captain, a further prove that he is being keenly watched by the selectors.
