Here we look at the top 5 players with highest individual scores in Australia.

1.  Chris Gayle

Chris Gayle one of the superstars of T20 format became the top individual score in Australia. He opened the innings during that match and started carefully. After spending time on the crease, he smashed the Zimbabwe bowling attack to all parts of the ground. He scored 215 off 147 balls at Canberra during the World Cup 2015. He played this innings on 24th February 2015. During that innings, he hit 10 fours and 16 sixes at a strike rate of 146.25 His innings helped West Indies to post a massive total of 372 for 2 which West Indies won by 73 runs. He is one of the five batsmen to score a double century in One-day Internationals.   

2. David Warner

David Warner is one of the explosive openers in modern day cricket was the second highest individual scorer in Australia. He opened the innings and smashed the minnows Afghanistan team to all parts of the ground. He scored 178 off 133 balls at Perth during the World Cup 2015. He played this innings on 4th March 2015. During that innings, he hit 19 fours and 5 sixes with a strike rate of 133.83. His innings helped Australia post a big total of 417. He created pressure on the inexperienced bowling line up and made the life of the bowlers very tough. He played all the strokes during that innings.  

3 Mark Waugh

Mark Waugh, another good opener for Australia, is the third highest individual scorer in Australia. He was the member of the squad which won the World Cup in 1999. He scored 173 off 148 balls at Melbourne against West Indies in 2001. He played this innings on 9th February 2001. During that innings, he hit 16 fours and 3 sixes at a strike rate of 116.89. His innings helped Australia to post a big total of 338 for 6 which Australia won by 39 runs.

4 Adam Gilchrist

Adam Gilchrist, one of explosive openers for Australia, is the fourth highest individual scorer in Australia. He opened the innings for Australia and smashed the Zimbabwe bowling to all parts of the ground. He scored 172 off 126 balls against Zimbabwe at Hobart. This innings came on 16th January 2004. During that innings he hit 13 fours and 3 sixes at strike rate of 136.50. Australia posted a big total of 344 for 7 which Australia won by 148 runs. He created pressure on the Zimbabwe bowling attack and did not allow them to settle in a particular line and length.      

5. Rohit Sharma  

Rohit Sharma an excellent One day International player was at his best in the first ODI match against Australia on 12th January 2016. He opened the innings for India and played one of his best knocks. He scored 171 off 163 and remained not out. His innings was full of big strokes and attacked the inexperienced bowling Australian attack. During that innings he hit 13 fours and 7 sixes at a strike rate of 104.90. His big innings helped India to set a big target of 310 which did not prove sufficient enough as Australia chased down this huge target with 4 balls to spare. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli stitched 207 runs 2nd wicket partnership. It was the second best Indian pair to stitch a big partnership in Australia after Laxman and Yuvraj Singh.
