Test cricket is the purest form where the patience of the batsmen and bowlers are tested. In One day Internationals and T-20 format the batsmen have to score at a certain pace which would help their teams to reach a competitive total. In the last 2 years few batsmen have been in excellent form and scoring big runs. It has been great to watch these players to score runs in test matches and have done wonders for their country. Here are the 5 players with most test runs in the last 2 years

  1.        Steve Smith

Steve Smith is an excellent young talented batsman for Australia who bats at number 3. He made his test debut against Pakistan in 2010. He struggled for the first few matches but he changed his style of batting. In the last 2 years in test matches he has played 22 matches and scored 2290 runs with an average of 69.15. During this period he has scored 10 centuries and 7 fifty. The centuries came 4 of them against England, 4 of them against India out of which 2 were almost double ton, 1 against West Indies in 2015 and 1 against South Africa in 2014. In the ongoing test match against England at Lords he is not out on 129 and looking for a big score.

  1.        David Warner

David Warner is another explosive opening batsman for Australia and gives the team a flying start. He made his test debut against New Zealand in 2011. In the last 2 years in test matches he has played 21 matches and scored 2075 runs with an average of 51.87. During this period he has scored 9 centuries and 8 fifty score. His centuries came against 2 of them against England, 4 against South Africa, 1 Pakistan and 3 against Indians. He has the ability to put the pressure on the opponents by attacking bowlers. The centuries against India came at the home series in Australia (2014), centuries against South Africa came in South Africa (2014), and century against Pakistan came at Dubai in 2014.

  1.        Younis Khan

Younis Khan is one greatest batsman for Pakistan cricket who bats at number 3 in test matches. He made his test debut against Sri Lanka in 2000. In the last 2 years he has played 19 matches and scored 2065 runs with an average of 68.83 which is great for test batsman. During this period he has scored 10 centuries and 3 fifty only. His best ability is to get set and score big runs for the team. In 2013 he played 8 matches and scored 698 runs with the best of 200 not out with 3centuries and 1 fifty. In 2014 he played 9 matches and scored 1064 runs with best of 213 with 5 centuries and 2 fifty. In the year 2015 he has played 5 matches and scored 487 runs with best of 171 not out with 2 centuries and 0 fifty. In the final test match against Sri Lanka he played a match winning knock of 171 not out to help Pakistan win the test series 2-1.

  1.        Joe Root

Joe Root is another promising young batsman for England who bats at number 4. He made his test debut against India in 2012. In the last 2 years he has played 22 test matches and scored 2008 runs with an average of 62.75. During this period he has scored 7 centuries and 11 fifty scores. His best ability is to attack the bowling team. In 2013 he played 14 test matches and scored 862 runs with best of 180 with 2 centuries and 3 fifty. In 2014 he played 7 matches and scored 777 runs with the best of 200 not out with 3 centuries and 3 fifty. In the year 2015 he has played 7 matches and scored 735 runs with the best of 182 not out with 2 centuries and 5 fifty. He has been the key man for England in the middle order.

  1.        Kumar Sangakara

Kumar Sangakara is another great legend for Sri Lanka who bats at number 3. He made his test debut against South Africa in 2000. In the last 2 years he has played 15 matches and scored 1819 runs with an average of 64.96 which shows the consistency of the cricketer. During this period he has scored 8 centuries and 11 fifty. In the year 2013 he played 3 matches and scored 512 runs with best of 142 with best of 3 centuries and 2 fifty. In the year 2014 he played 11 matches and scored 1438 runs with best of 319 with 4 centuries and 8 fifty scores. In the year 2015 he played 3 matches and scored 310 runs with 1 century and 1 fifty.
