Cricket is one of the popular games in the world. The first ever international cricket game was played between USA and Canada in 1844. It is been played by 10 regular countries and other associate nations apart from Russia, China, Japan and Korea. There are various grounds in the world but few are most popular as the cricketers love to play matches on those ground. Here we look at 5 venues with most international matches.

  1. Melbourne Cricket Ground(MCG)

Melbourne Cricket Ground is one of the most iconic grounds in the world. It was the venue for the first test match and One day International match in 1877 and 1971 respectively. The stadium was established in 1853.It holds the annual boxing day matches on December 26th. Since then the venue has held 108 test matches, 145 One day Internationals and 9 T20 matches. MCG is the venue where the cricketers love to play. The ground has a capacity of 90,000. Many international cricketers have come to play here and played well on this ground. A total of 262 matches have been played till date. The area of the ground is 172.9 long and 147.8 wide. The floodlight matches have been taking since 1985. The previous international match was held between India and Australia on 29th January 2016.

2. Sydney Cricket Ground(SCG)

The first international match was played between England and Australia in 1882.  It is another excellent stadium in Australia and also  famous ground in the world. It holds the new year test matches from 3rd January every year.The stadium was established in 1848.  The stadium has held a total of 104 test matches, 152 One day International and 4 T20 matches . The SCG ground have witnessed 260 international matches. It has a capacity of 44,002 and an area of 156.0 m long and 154.0 m wide. The last international match at this ground was held on 31st January between India and Australia.

3. Sharjah Cricket Stadium

Sharjah Cricket Stadium is one of the oldest ground in the world. The first cricket match in Sharjah Cricket Stadium was held at 1984 and still playing cricket. The Stadium was established in 1982.The venue has held 8 test matches, 224 One day international matches and 12 T20 international matches. A total of 244 matches have been held on this ground. It has the capacity of 16,000. By 2002, the Sharjah Cricket has increased the capacity to 27,000. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium have installed floodlights. The last international match was held between Afghanistan and Zimbabwe in 2016. The Sharjah Cricket Stadium is situated in United Arab Emriates.

4. Lords Cricket Ground, London

Lords Cricket Ground is the Mecca of cricket. The first international match was played between England and Australia in 1884 and still playing matches at the famous ground. This iconic stadium in England was established in 1814.The venue has held 132 test matches, 57 One day internationals and 8 T20 international matches. Lords Cricket Ground has held many great matches in the past like the 1983 World Cup, 2002 Natwest Series and many more memorable matches. A total of 197 matches have been held on this ground. The floodlights were installed in 2009. It is one of the best grounds to play cricket in the world which makes a cricketer feel that they want to be a part of the venue. In 2014, it marked the 200th anniversary of the ground. The last international match was held between Sri Lanka and England from 9th-13th June.

Lords Cricket Ground5. Harare Sports Club

Harare Sports Club is situated in Zimbabwe. The first match was played between Zimbabwe and India in 1992. The venue was established in It has held 32 test matches, 129 One day Internationals and 16 T20 international matches. A total of 177 international have taken place at this venue. The total capacity of the ground is 10,000. The floodlights have been installed since 2011 but no day night matches has taken place on this ground. The most recent match was between India and Zimbabwe on 15th March.
