AB de Villiers Likely To Miss IPL Due To Back Injury

As the Twenty20 cricket carnival in the country is five days away, the widely celebrated South African cricketer AB de Villiers may miss out the Indian Premier League’s (IPL) tenth edition after suffering from back injury as he has pulled out himself from the Friday’s domestic final of One-Day Cup for Titans against Warriors which is scheduled at SuperSport Park in Centurion.
It could be another blow for the star-studded Royal Challengers Bangalore if the star batsman de Villiers would remain unavailable for the initial phase of the IPL while nursing the back injury.
The 33-year-old wicket-keeper batsman de Villiers has been the cornerstone for the Proteas before joining the lucrative league across the globe while having all the shots in his book.
The Pretoria-born has been a nightmare for the bowlers while playing shots around all parts of the ground.
From right to left, de Villiers has swung the fortunes for his team while playing significant knocks for his respective teams.
On the other hand, RCB skipper Virat Kohli, who is recovering from a shoulder injury after falling awkwardly on his right shoulder in the Ranchi Test against Australia while saving a boundary.
The 28-year-old Kohli did not play the fourth and final Test of the Border-Gavaskar series which was eventually won by India 2-1 after Ranchi witnessed a draw.
De Villiers has played for 120 IPL matches in which he has scored 3,257 at an average of 39.24 at the strike rate of 149.33.
The right-handed batsman de Villiers was the part of IPL franchise Delhi Daredevils in the first three editions before joining Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2011.
Earlier, the opening batsman KL Rahul was ruled out IPL after suffering a shoulder injury.
The 24-year-old right-handed batsman Rahul will undergo shoulder surgery in London.
Bangalore is scheduled to play its first match of the IPL against Sun Risers Hyderabad on April 5 at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
