Mitchell Johnson when on song was just a nightmare for even the best of batsmen. With his sheer pace and hostility, he had the ability to make any batsman dance to his tunes. A lot of reputed batsmen have simply experienced agony when they have faced a rampant Mitchell Johnson. Johnson in the modern era was the only bowler who could induce fear within a batsman.
Johnson, however, feels that bowling to a certain batsman was his toughest assignment. The batsman was none other than South Africa’s batting icon AB De Villiers. Over the years, De Villiers and Johnson have been involved in some seriously scintillating clashes. The two were the best for their respective sides in the field.
Speaking about his rivalry with AB De Villiers, Johnson said in a recent media interaction, “AB de Villiers, he’s one outstanding player of our generation. He was always so difficult to get out and a huge challenge.”
“I remember the game at Centurion in 2014 and I’d got a few quick wickets in that game and he came out to bat and looked so calm and composed and just played his natural game. It really is difficult when someone does come out like that and you’re on top of your game. But it really is a great challenge and he’s been one of the best players I’ve played against,” said Johnson.
