South African batsman AB de Villiers who scored an undefeated 89 to lead South Africa to the victory in the first One Day International (ODI) against New Zealand. After the game he said that he loved finishing games for his team. He proved in the match why he is No 1 ranked batsman and did full justice to his ranking, and played a superlative knock full of smooth strokeplay. He also said that being at the end there is nothing more rewarding than that. He said in an interview that when we talk about statistics and milestones at the end of a career, that is something that he will look back on. He is very happy with his performance. He got confidence before three ODIs here and five in Australia. It helps a lot, said De Villiers. He thought they got themselves into a strong position to finish them off. Other than that it was a great bowling performance. Getting a team nine down after 35 overs, with two best bowlers with the ball in hand. He also said they will be dispirited that they did not finish the job.
