The former Australian wicket keeper batsman, Adam Gilchrist had been pretty much jovial both on and off the field and he was always been involved in several social and political activities for the welfare of Australia and also to the world as a whole.
Also he has good relations with India and he has many fans in the country. During his IPL days, he was considered as the native person from Punjab when he was the captain of Kings XI Punjab and he had equal amount of fame in Hyderabad since he captained Deccan Chargers prior to that and even led the Deccan Chargers to win the IPL in 2009.
He did not visit India much after IPL 6. Recently it was declared that Gilchrist will be visiting India but not for any sorts of Cricketing reasons. He will be meeting Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for some political agreements.
Recently, he even tweeted about that on his twitter account. His tweet was as such:
Excited to be visiting India with @TonyAbbottMHR for first meeting with @narendramodi
— Adam Gilchrist (@gilly381) September 1, 2014.
It was also reported that Gilchrist will be accompanying the Australian Prime Minister, Tony Blair in the tour on his maiden visit to India in the very next week. The Australian Prime Minister will be meeting the Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi in order to strengthen strategic as well as economic ties between both the countries. Also, they will discuss a variety of issues on common interest such as Uranium Deal.
It is a good thing to see a former cricketer who was perhaps the best wicket keeper of his times to get involved in such good and progressive political talks. Gilchrist has proved his character during his character and his presence in the tour will surely benefit both the countries in either direct or in an indirect manner.
