Gujarat All-Rounder Akshar Patel replaces Ravindra Jadeja for the remainder of the test series against Australia after Jadeja has been side-lined due to an injured shoulder. Akshar will fly to Australia at the earliest according to the BCCI officials.
Jadeja, in the meantime will return home for treatment and is all set to be fit in time for the tri-series that begins on January 16, 2015. Jadeja is the second casualty in the team after pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar was ruled out due to a foot injury and was replaced by Dhawal Kulkarni for the reminder of the series.
Akshar Patel, who is in contention for the World Cup squad after a good run in the ODIs against West Indies and Sri Lanka will be looking to making it to the test squad if he was asked to play in the starting XI. Akshar has been pushing hard for a spot since the IPL and was overlooked for Karn Sharma when the selectors announced the 17 member squad for the Australian series.
