Allan Donald, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s bowling coach, says that Varun Aaron can play a major role in the pace attack of the team.

RCB are missing both Mitchell Starc and Adam Milne, and the pacer can have increased responsibilities within the squad. Starc is unavailable for the duration of two weeks, out with a minor knee injury after a very successful World Cup performance.

Bowlers getting injured is a huge problem, Donald said.

Donald was also counting on Sean Abbott and David Wiese to deliver a load of balance to the RCB squad, saying: “The presence of Sean Abbott, David Wiese gives us options to llok after and gives a better balance to the side. It’s the first time we have guys of some real pace with speeds above 145 and 150kmph.”

Donald is looking forward to working with the likes of other domestic talents besides Varun Aaron, such as Sandeep Warrier, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ashok Dinda.

“Ashok Dinda always brings something new to the table. He is a street-scrapper,” Donald said.

Royal Challengers Bangalore has the cast to take them all the way, but will they be able to achieve the dream? So far, the coveted IPL trophy has evaded them, but can they turn this around? Only time will tell.
