There has been a change in the Gujarat Cricket Association(GCA). The GCA has their new President elected. Amit Shah has been elected as the new President of GCA. The Presidential post of GCA was empty for almost a month. Current Indian Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi was the President of the Gujarat Cricket Association previously. He had resigned from the Presidential post of GCA in the late last month. He was the Prime Ministerial Candidate for the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). After the entire country witnessed the saffron revolution throughout the country, Narendra Modi was drawn to the way of being the 15th Indian Prime Minister.

Modi sworn on 27th May and after that he resigned from the presidential post of Gujarat Cricket Association. It was hinted from approximately 10 days earlier that Mr. Amit Shah would be the next President of GCA. Amit Shah, being one of the most trusted people to Modi, was expected to be the next GCA President and the expectations has been converted to a news. He has been elected as the current GCA President.

Amit Shah, also known as Amitbhai Anilchandra Shah was born on 1964 in Bombay. He is presently the General Secretary of Bharatiya Janta Party(BJP). He is an educated person and holds a Bachelor degree in Bio-chemistry. He has been in the State Government Ministerial post in Gujarat for quite a few years.

Earlier this year, Shah was appointed as the Campaign Manager for BJP in the Uttar Pradesh region prior to 2014 General Elections. He has been one of the trusted base of Modi for quite a few years now.

For the past few years, Gujarat received little success when it comes to cricket. And also, there has not been many names from Gujarat representing India. Last season, Gujarat was in the Elite Group of the Ranji Trophy but had very little success. Gujarat falls in the Western Zone of the Duleep Trophy.

It is now a point to be seen that what Mr. Amit Shah does for the upliftment of Gujarat Cricket. Presently we have witnessed some fine talents coming from Gujarat played well in IPL and also made their mark. The names include Akshar Patel, Parthiv Patel, Manpreet Juneja, Jasprit Bumrah, Harshal Patel, Siddharth Trivedi and Amit Singh. All of them are young talents and it is time for us to see how GCA be able to shape such priceless talents. A lot is expected from the new ruling body of GCA and Amit Shah in particular.

We are hopeful to see some names from Gujarat to shine for India internationally and hope Amit Shah does well for GCA in times to follow as it will not only benefit the state, but also will benefit the country as a whole.
