Analysis: Team India – 4 problems that may arise during World Cup

All the players participating in the world cup are prepared and have geared up to showcase their talent on the biggest stage. The main round of the tournament will start tomorrow where the Indian team will go against the New Zealand team.

The Indian team will take on the New Zealand in their first match at the city of oranges “Nagpur”. Indian team has tightened up their screws and will try not to commit even a single mistake at the biggest stage. The Indian team will look to win this one to kick off their campaign on a high note. The Indian team has star batsmen from Rohit to Kohli to Raina and then Dhoni himself. All-rounders like Jadeja, Yuvraj, Pandya and Negi brings a smile on the face of the captain. The spin department has the stalwart bowler Harbhajan Singh and R. Ashwin. The pace department is action packed with Nehra, Shami and Bumrah.

We can hardly spot any weakness in this squad and this team looks one of the best sides in this world cup.

But still there are some problems that may arise in front of captain Dhoni during World Cup.

Let’s get you across these problems:

1. The first problem for the Indian team is the inconsistency of Shikhar Dhawan. The Delhi boy is going through a good form but still he is not consistent as his form always moves to & fro. He was also dropped in few matches during the world cup last year due to his poor form. So, this time, Shikhar has to be consistent and produce the goods for his team.

2. The second problem for Dhoni is the form of Suresh Raina. He had a rough patch in Asia cup and was not instrumental in that tournament. Though he showed some sign of form in the practise match against South Africa but still his form is a big issue for the team and captain.

3. The next problem is the role of an all-rounder. Though Indian team has 3 all-rounders in their team. But Yuvraj and Jadeja are not doing justice to their tag of an all-rounder. The problem with Yuvi is that he can be a hit in this format as batsmen always look for a bowler like him to go after. The problem with Jadeja is his batting woes. Yes, Jadeja is a good bowler but we hardly remember any match where he won the game with his bat. So is it fair to term him as an all rounder? This is the biggest problem in front of the captain.

4. The next problem is a lack of finisher in the Indian team. India has to heavily depend on Dhoni to perform the finishing role. Though Dhoni has always performed this role to the best of his ability, but it is still a big problem for the team as we always cannot depend on Dhoni for this role. If he fails to deliver then it will land the team into a big problem. So, Indian team have to search for a player who can perform the finishing role for the team.
