Today, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the first Indian wicketkeeper to complete 50 catches against Australia in Tests. After he took 3 catches, his dismissals’ tally rose to 65 (51 catches+ 14 stumpings) in 19 games – the highest by an Indian wicket-keeper in Tests vs Australia.
Also, Mahendra Singh Dhoni has become the seventh wicket-keeper to have completed 250 catches in Tests (251 in 90 matches).
Altogether, on day one of the third Test against Australia in Melbourne, MS Dhoni as wicket-keeper climbed to be among top five in the elite list of Test wicket-keepers for most dismissals.
While playing in his 90th Test at MCG, Dhoni now has 288 dismissals, which includes 251 catches and 37 stumpings to his credit. This achievement has enabled him to become 5th among the tally of most dismissals in tests by wicket-keepers.
Proudly standing on the top of the list is former South Africa player Mark Boucher with 555 dismissals, followed by Adam Gilchrist at two and Ian Healy at three. At number four is former Australian wicket-keeper Rodney Marsh.
