Star batsman Chris Gayle played a superb innings in the second test against New Zealand. The West Indies were set an easy target of 93 in the second innings and they raced to their victory target off just 13.2 overs. Gayle blasted one of the fastest half-centuries in test cricket history to steer West Indies to an emphatic 10-wicket victory.

In his splendid innings, Gayle smashed seven fours and six sixes to finish unbeaten on 80 off only 46 balls as his team levelled the three-match series at 1-1. It is worth noting that Gayle had not been in good form coming into the match. He was being criticized by the experts. But this innings showed how destructive he can be. He reached his fifty in just 28 balls, the sixth fastest in history. Once again Chris Gayle has showed why he is one of the best players of the modern era.

Gayle has also been very popular off the field and is seen as an entertaining personality.
