As soon as Indian wicketkeeper and captain MS Dhoni stumped out Cook in the third ODI being played at Trent Bridge in England, he got past the record of Kumar Sangakkara of Sri lanka who had 131 stumps in 563 matches but Dhoni has achieved this feat of 130 stumps only in 381 matches.

Romesh Kaluwitharana of Sri Lanka is closely behind Dhoni and Sangakkara with 101 stumpings and then comes Moin Khan of Pakistan with 93 along with Adam Gilchrist of Australia with 92 stumpings.

It is also worthwhile to mention that Dhoni has also got the record of most dismissals in an ODI. He shares this along with Adam Gilchrist, Ridley Jacobs and 10 others, with 6 dismissals including 5 catches and a stumping against England in 2007.

Dhoni has also secured the position of 5th ranked wicketkeeper who has most catches in international career, that is 492 catches in 381 matches. He has also got 5th position in the most dismissals in a career by any wicketkeeper with 621 dismissals wherein his successors are Ian Healy of Australia with 628 and Kumar Sangakkara with 642 dismissals.
