Former renowned Sri Lankan captain Arjuna Ranatunga commented about the failure of Indian team in England. He told that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is responsible for India’s catastrophe in England. They have faced criticism from all sides for their poor condition and went down 1-3 to the England. Not only BCCI, IPL is another main reason of this series defeat. After this, BCCI would realise their mistakes adding that the Board did not let the players prepare well for the tough English conditions. Ranatunga ascribed lack of preparation as the main reason which caused the Indian down fall in England.
He pointed towards Indian batting squad especially Virat Kohli. He said that the players are more concerned about the T-20 cricket and One Day International cricket, forgetting the classical grammar of cricket. Immediately India should discuss this problem with some of the great technicians in Indian cricket. He also said that when he was a kid his idols are Sunil Gavaskar, Gundappa Vishwanath, Mohinder Amarnath and Dilip Vengsarkar. He felt blessed as he got them as icon because now in Indian team there are no icons, and this is very unfortunate that Indian cricket will suffer in near future.
The legendary skipper felt T20 cricket, especially IPL is the main reason of this peril. He also added that he spoke about IPL’s danger side from the beginning. For IPL, Test cricket is losing its importance.
