  • Glenn Maxwell hit a match-winning gusty 96 run innings. He was adjudged man of the match for his knock. Maxwell missed his hundred when Australia needed one run to clinch the series. He played a skier off Umesh Yadav that was caught by Shikhar Dhawan.

Indian suffered third straight defeat loss in Victoria Beer series against Australia. Yet another hundred of Indian batsman has gone in vain as Glenn Maxwell’s 96 help Australia to rout India in the third ODI by three wickets.

Indian batting first scored 295 for 6. Opener Shikhar Dhawan scored 68, Virat Kohli 117, but once again the bowlers and fielders’s “lack of concentration” lose India a match.

Maxwell in the press conference responded to the questions of journalist the way he bats. He was asked he’s a distant cousin of Sehwag, given their similar styles. Maxwell gave a ridiculous answer as he said, “I have more hair than Sehwag!”

Meanwhile, Glenn Maxwell at the press conference further said, “Maybe Indian batsmen are milestone driven.”

Maxwell was asked about his outrageous shot, he said, “As long as you hit the ball to the fence it doesn’t matter how the shot looks.” He was also asked about the last ball shot to get his hundred, he said that he hit the ball for the sake of hitting. “Just wanted to hit over the infield. Didn’t matter if for 3, 4, 6, 8. Just wanted to hit it.”

Maxwell hit 3 sixes and eight boundaries in his 96 run innings. This was the fourth time when Maxwell got out in nervous nineties. He came to the crease when Australia lost their top half including Steve Smith and George Bailey the hero of the last match. So, it was quite difficult situations, but Maxwell held his nerve and played a crucial 83 ball knock to clinch the series for Australia.

This was Australia’s 18th straight victory at home. They need one more victory to surpass West Indies’ 18 consecutive victory at home.
