Former Pakistani skipper Mohammad Yousuf said the Australian bowling attack required intense spinners and that played an important role in Pakistan’s victory in the first Test.

Yousuf commented after Pakistan rolled over Australia by 221 runs in Dubai to take a 1-0 lead in the 2 match series.

He said if you juxtapose the spin bowlers of both sides Australia is having frail spinners and he never expected them to trouble Pakistani batsmen. Their real problem comes from the pace bowlers. He added that T-20s, One Day Internationals and Test cricket are three different formats and Pakistan team has done poorly in the Test format so he is not amazed by this win.

Pakistan’s Rawalpindi Express Shoaib Akhtar told that the team now should not play for a tie in the 2nd Test at Abu Dhabi and go with full strength to win the series. Yousuf and Shoaib have been savage disparagers of the Pakistan team in recent times and have bemoaned the fact that Pakistan have not won a test series since last beating England 3-0 in the United Arab Emirates in 2012.

Yousuf said United Arab Emirates had become effective citadels for Pakistan in Test cricket as they play most of the home series there. He added that he do not recollect the last time Pakistan lost a Test series in the United Arab Emirates. Either they have won or drawn a series. Yousuf said that on the United Arab Emirates tracks, Australia apart from Mitchell Johnson did not have that much accurate power to bowl out Pakistan twice.
