Australia vs Sri Lanka 2017: Chris Lynn Ruled Out Due To Neck Injury

Flamboyant batsman Chris Lynn has been ruled out of the home T20I series against Sri Lanka due to a neck injury.
After an impressive show in the Big Bash League season six, Lynn was named in the ODI side for the Pakistan series but was ruled out and aggravated the above mentioned injury during the practice session last week.
Ben Dunk, who was the highest run-scorer in BBL 06, has been named as his replacement. Dunk scored a total of 364 runs in eight games including three half-centuries. The left-handed batsman was a part of the national squad for the T20 series against South Africa in the 2014.
Kevin Sims, team’s physiotherapist, spoke about Lynn’s injury:
“Chris resumed some light training as part of his rehabilitation but was still unable to function at the level he needs to play international cricket due to his existing neck injury. Chris will be seeing a specialist later this week and from there we will have a better understanding of the ongoing management, along with the return to play timeframes.”
Trevor Hohns, the interim national selector, said it was unfortunate for Lynn to miss out on such a big opportunity.
“It’s unfortunate that Chris is not fit to participate in this series, but we are excited at the prospects Ben will bring to the squad. Ben was the highest run scorer for the Big Bash in the season just gone, amassing a total of 364 runs in just 222 balls faced and currently sits on an average of 52. He has had consistent performances in the BBL, IPL and CPL and also brings international experience to the squad.”
The three-match T20I series between Australia and Sri Lanka starts from February 17 with the first match to be played in Melbourne. Both teams will then fly to Victoria and Adelaide to play the remaining games.
