Australia vs Sri Lanka 2017: Ricky Ponting Puts His Weight Behind Ben Dunk For Selection In T20 Squad

Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting has called for Ben Dunk’s selection for the three-T20I series against Sri Lanka, to be played next month. The Australian squad will most likely have plenty of newcomers from Big Bash League (BBL 06), as the Kangaroos are scheduled to play a four-Test series against India at the same time. Hence, almost all senior players will be in sub-continent at that time.
“To be honest, I actually think he’s in too good form to ignore.
“And well done to him – it was a big move to leave the Hurricanes and move to a different franchise and play the way he has.
“I’d be surprised if he wasn’t included in the squad,” said Ricky Ponting, a member of Australia coaching staff for the Sri Lanka T20 series.
Ben Dunk played three T20Is for Australia in 2014 against South Africa and scored 39 runs.
Dunk is having a dream run in this year’s Big Bash League as the left-handed batsman has scored 364 runs at an awe-inspiring strike-rate of 163.96. Selectors will find it tough to ignore him as he has been one of the handpicked performers in the T20 league till now.
