Australia’s T20 Squad against Proteas
As Australian team is playing Test series against Pakistan in the UAE, and the T20 series against South Africa starting soon after that the Australian Selection Committee was unable to choose the likes of David Warner, Glenn Maxwell and Mitchell Johnson for the series.
As a result of which ,the Australian Selector Rod Marsh picked up a squad rewarding new players for their brilliant performances in the Australian Domestic Cricket and some senior players who are trying to make a come back in the team after injury or after being dropped from the team
The most surprising selection was that of Ben Dunk, he was the unexpected choice as Australia’s Twenty20 wicketkeeper, many had thought that either Victoria’s Mathew wade or New South wales’s Peter Nevill was the ideal choice after some impressive performace in the ongoing domestic tournament. In the match between Tasmania and Quensland at north Sydney ,Ben dunk score 229 not out dispatching the ball all over the cricket ground and taking his team to a score of 398.The match was also witnessed by one of Australia’s chief selector,Mark Waugh and that innigs of his may very well be the reason for his selection.
Cameron White and Nathan Reardon were also rewarded for their impressive show in the domestic season. The Australian all rounder Shane Watson ,who is making a come back after his calf and ankle problems will be looking to use the series to make his come back in the Aussie one day team. The squad itself includes a good blend of youth and experience, providing Aaron Finch with several options with both bat and ball Rod Marsh was quoted saying” (The Schedule) gives people opportunities, people grab their opportunities and if someone does really well in this three match series we’ll finf\d it hard to leave him out for further T20 matches we play before the t20 World Cup in 2016”
The T20 squad will gather in Adelaide on November 1
