After watching today’s game, it can be safely said that TNPL is no less than IPL in terms of action. Yesterday we saw a high-scoring thriller but today the scenes were opposite as it was a low scoring game which the karaikudi team snatched from the jaws of patriots.
Batting first the Karaikudi team could just score 111 runs. Only 3 batsmen could touch the 10 run mark including Badrinath who scored 49 runs in 46 balls. The late show of 28 of 17 balls from C Ganapathy helped the team to cross the 100 run and put 111 runs on the board. Ashwin Christ scalped 3 wickets whereas all-rounder Washington Sundar chipped in with two wickets.
It was an easy target for patriots but they made a mistake at the start by relegating Sundar from top to one down. He could just score 1 run. None of the batsmen was able to stand on the crease for long. Ganapathy who starred with the bat was asking difficult questions to the batsman, meanwhile, he added 3 wickets to his name. Patriots team could just score 103 runs in their quota of 20 over thus losing the game by 8 runs.
Ganapathy was awarded the man of the match award for his all-round show.
