Bangladesh beat South Africa in the second One day International by 7 wickets at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Mirpur just few moments ago. It was a great performance by the Bangladesh team who played some excellent cricket in the match and never let South Africa come into the match.
Chasing a target of 163 the Bangladesh innings got off to bad start losing Tamim Iqbal for 5. Litton Das and Soumya Sarkar put up a 19-run second wicket partnership before Litton Das was dismissed. Soumya Sarkar and Mahmdullah attacked the South African bowlers. Bangladesh lost 1 more wicket before winning the match by 7 wickets with 22.2 overs to spare. The top scorer was Soumya Sarkar who scored 88 not-out.
South Africa won the toss and elected to bat. The openers Quinton De Kock and Hashim began cautiously as they scored 16 runs in the first 4.1 overs before De Kock was dismissed by Rahman. Then Du Plessis and Hashim put up a 29-run second wicket partnership before Amla was bowled by Rubel Hussain. The other batsman struggled to play on wicket and they lost regular intervals.
Bangladesh bowlers did a great job by bowling line and length. South Africa were bowled out for 162 in 46 overs. The top scorer for South Africa was Du Plessis scoring 41. The pick of bowlers for Bangladesh was Rahman and Nasir Hossain picking 3 wickets each, Rubel Hossain picked 2 wickets, Mortaza and Mahmdullah picking 1 wicket each.
With this win Bangladesh equal the series at 1-1. The last match will be played on the 15th July.
