Bangladesh wins the second One day International!

Bangladesh produced an excellent performance by defeating England in the second One day International by 34 runs at Sher E Bangla Stadium, Dhaka. On the back of great performance from Mortaza, Bangladesh won the match in style and set up an exciting match on 12th October.

England won the toss and choose to field. Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Kayes were dismissed at the team score of 26. At the end of first 10 overs Bangladesh scored 30 runs for the loss of two wickets. Sabbir Rahman failed to score. The fourth wicket stand between Mahmudullah and Rahim gave the hosts stability. They played the pacers well and hit boundaries off bad balls. When things were looking dangerous for England, Rahim was dismissed for 21. Shakib Al Hasan was dismissed for 3 leaving Bangladesh at 113 runs for 5. Mahmudullah  held the innings together and completed his half century off 51 balls. Rashid, Ball and Woakes picked 2 wickets each.

Chasing a challenging target of 238, the Bangladesh captain started with Mortaza and Shakib Al Hasan. The captain Mortaza picked up the wicket of Vince. Shakib AL Hasan bowled an excellent delivery to dismiss Ben Duckett. With two wickets gone, the Bangladesh bowlers did not allow England batsmen to score runs with ease. Jason Roy and Ben Stokes went in quick succession to leave England in tatters at 26 for 4 in 9.4 overs. At the end of the first powerplay, England were struggling at 31 for 4. After the powerplay, Buttler and Jonny Bairstow played positively which made the Bangladesh bowlers think on their feet. Buttler put the pressure on Bangladesh bowlers by stepping the down the track. Both these batsmen put on 50 runs partnership for the fifth wicket in 42 balls which helped them to revive from a hopless situation.

As things were looking good for England, Taskin Ahmed produced an excellent delivery to dismiss Bairstow. The 5th wicket partnership between these two players was worth 79 runs in 14 overs. After that Moeen Ali went scoring just 4 runs. Buttler scored a half century. He was dismissed for 57 off 57 balls. England lost 7 wickets at the score of 123.

Chris Woakes was not able to contribute and was dismissed for 7 runs to leave England at 132 for 8. David Willey and Adil Rashid played sensibly to put on 27 runs for 9th wicket before David Willey was dismissed. For the last wicket Ball and Rashid put on 45 runs which then looked like it almost sealed the match for England, but England were dismissed for 204 in 44.4 overs. The pick of bowlers for Bangladesh was Mortaza who picked 4 wickets while Taskin Ahmed picked 3 wickets. All the Bangladesh bowlers did a brilliant job to pick up wickets and also control the run flow. It was a special effort by Bangladesh bowlers after being restricted 238.
