When he first burst onto the international scene, experts called Taskin Ahmed as the man to watch out for in the near future. The young pacer had raw energy and pace that could trouble any batsman on the globe. He made full use of his skills in Bangladesh’s memorable campaign in the 2015 World Cup as he bowled with a lot of energy and vigour.
Just when his career was peaking and his team’s performance improving, things went completely downhill as he was booked by the ICC for having a suspect bowling action. Soon, the worst fears came true as his bowling action was found to be illegal and he was subsequently barred from bowling in international cricket.
However, according to Ahmed, he has rectified his action, and could soon be back in the scheme of things. “Experts at home are satisfied with my bowling action,” Taskin said. “I am also satisfied. But since it is a test, even one problem found in a delivery can be a major issue. I am training hard and the rest is up to god.”
Admitting the significance of being back to represent his nation, Taskin added, “I’m thinking about the test while eating and sleeping.” “I feel the same way as one would while hearing the date of the school final exams. You keep preparing, but when you hear the date, you get a little nervous. But I’m happy that a date has been fixed. I am preparing both mentally and physically through my skills.”
“This is a burden for me,” Taskin said. “Just like anyone else, I would also like to return to international cricket quickly. If the word ‘banned’ is removed from my life, it would be like every day is Eid,” the right arm fast bowler mentioned.
