Scoring a double century in Cricket has always been a high point in a batsman’s batting resume and when it comes to that, Kumar Sangakkara is next to only Sir Don Bradman. In the ongoing match between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, Sangakkara scored his 10th Double century and went on to score 221 runs before being dismissed by Abdur Rehman. Kallis was the one who had to wait too long , before he launched his maiden double century against India.

Top 5 players with most double centuries:

1: Don Bradman: A batting record which is being carried by him for long now. He has scored 12 double centuries in just 52 matches and no wonder why he is rated as the best to have ever batted . His career average is 99.94 and is surely a record which looks unbreakable now.

2:Kumar Sangakkara: The Sri Lankan great might not be receiving the credit he deserves for some unknown reasons. But , he has  been a true servant for Sri Lankan cricket. Having scored 10 double centuries now, he is nearing Bradman’s record of 12 centuries now. He has scored a total of almost 12 thousand runs and still counting more.

3:Brian Lara: He finished International Test career being the highest run scorer in Test cricket and also with the highest individual score in test innings. But, his tally of highest Test runs was surpassed by Sachin. Brian Lara now stands 3rd when it comes to most Double centuries in Test matches with 9 in 131 matches. He has scored a total of 11953 runs at an average of 52.88.

4:Wally Hammond: He scored 7 double centuries in 85 matches and 140 innings. He scored a total of 7249 runs at an average of 58.45 with 4 centuries and 24 half centuries and a highest score of 374 runs, which lasted for quite a long time before Brian Lara went on to score 375 runs.

5:Mahela Jayawardene: Another Sri Lankan great who is playing the last series of his career. He has scored 7 double centuries in 148 Test matches( including the ongoing one) and has scored 11730 runs at an average of just above 50. His highest score being 374 runs.
