With the second semi finals to be played at Sydney on the 26th March it promises to be an exciting battle between two captains who have done well for their country. In this World Cup Dhoni’s captaincy has been the turning point for India to reach the semi finals such a big tournament. Under Dhoni’s captaincy India has won 7 matches in a row while Clarke has also captained well after return from injury.

This Indian team has played exceptionally well in all departments be it batting, bowling and fielding. The batsmen like Shikhar Dhawan, Rohit Sharma, Rahane, Kohli, Raina and Dhoni have batted well to help India post big scores whenever they batted first. The bowling which was supposed to be weak link has taken 70 wickets in 7 matches getting the opponent team all out. Shami, Yadav and Mohit Sharma has been brilliant with their bowling and Ashwin, Jadjea has blocked the runs in the middle overs. Australia too has a strong batting line up which comprises of Finch, Warner, Smith, Clarke, Watson, Maxwell, Haddin and Faulkner. Their bowling is also good which has Mitchell Starc, Mitchell Johnson but they lack a quality spinner in their side.

Under MS Dhoni’s captaincy India has won T-20 World Cup in 2007, 2011 World Cup in India, ICC Champions Trophy 2013 in England. He is placed second in number of wins in World Cups which was previously held by Clive LLyod ans is only behind Australia legend Ricky Ponting. MS Dhoni is great captain in ICC tournaments and raises the bar of the game. The bad thing is that MS Dhoni has lost Test series in England 2, Australia 2, South Africa and NewZeleand. He took retirement from Test matches in the recently concluded test series against Australia. Dhoni has captained for India in 243 matches winning 134 and losing 88, in T-20 matches he has captained in 49 matches winning 27 and losing 20. He has also captained for Chennai Super Kings for the past 7 year. He knows how to tackle pressure and be aggressive with field placement.

Clarke the captain of Australia has played well defeating Pakistan in the quarter finals but praised the effort of Wahab Riaz. Clakre made his test debut against India in 2004. He has played 108 Test matches and scored 8432 runs at an average of 50.79 . He has captained for Australia in 39 matches winning 19 and losing 13, in One day Internationals he has captained the country in 66 matches winning 43 and losing 20.

With a place in the finals at stake it will be create an electric atmosphere in the ground. MS Dhoni has been special in these big tournaments. Clakre knows that playing at home ground will be a pressure for the hosts. India and Australia have been fierce rivals.

In the recently concluded Test series between these two teams there were many verbal fights and come Thursday it will be no different. Dhoni knows that winning the semi finals he will one step away from entering the finals. The crowd support in Sydney will be packed and the Indians will be cheering for their team. It will be a test of their nerves, skill and patience.
