BBL 06: Twitter Reacts As Perth Scorchers Register Comfortable Win Over Brisbane Heat
Dec 21, 2018 at 4:20 PM
Riding on a brilliant bowling performance from their pace quartet, Perth Scorchers defeated table-toppers Brisbane Heat by 27 runs to move second in the table.
Chasing a decent 157, the Brisbane-based outfit struggled throughout in the absence of their in-form batsman Chris Lynn. The hosts made a poor start as Jimmy Peirson was dismissed by Mitchell Johnson in the very first over before Sam Heazlett and Brendon McCullum were returned to the pavilion in quick succession to leave the Heat reeling at 26 for 3. A 46-run partnership between Alex Ross and Joe Burns then steadied the ship before the latter was sent back by Andrew Tye. Ross tried his best to take his team over the finishing line but lacked support from the other end as the Heat eventually fell short by 27 runs.
Earlier, Michael Klinger led his team from the front with a 54-ball 81 but did not get the support from the other end to post a big total. After Klinger, Ian Bell was the second highest scorer for the Scorchers with 14 runs as the visitors huffed and puffed to 156 in their 20 overs.
Here is how Twitter reacted to the match:
Brilliant bowling and fielding from the Scorchers to defend an average score. Poor batting from Heat as well #BBL06 #TurnUpTheHeat

What a way for the @ScorchersBBL to bounce back from a home spanking from the Heat – spanking em right back at their home #BBL06 #scorched

What is Alex Ross doing? 32 from 37 and trying to cut from outside leg … #BBL06

Surely Michael Klinger is the best cricketer to have never played an international match in any format #BBL06 @tensporttv

Nicely compiled 84 from @maxyklinger .Neat .Not textbook, but effective would also be an understatement. Always on point.@ScorchersBBL

The man deserves to represent his country more than any current cricketer. If not in T20, ODI or Test cricket. @maxyklinger #BBL06
