Bangladesh’s home of cricket Sher-e-Bangla stadium in Mirpur is going under some major renovation project. Eyebrows were raised at this ground if they are able to host Pakistan or not in the upcoming month of July.

Pakistan will travel to Bangladesh for two Test matches, three one-day international and a T20 series in July. Bangladesh Cricket Board is hopeful of Mirpur stadium hosting Pakistan in few matches. BCB’s ground committee chairman Hanif Bhuiyan is confident about the ground getting ready before July.

“The top six inches of soil have become hard which makes it difficult for the rainwater to go through. That’s why we decided to take this step. The last time the BCB did a makeover like this was probably 10 years ago. I am confident that the ground will be ready by around July”

He further added that it is kind of a hope for them as well, they are not too sure about the series being played here or not. He added,

“But I can not say for sure if the series will be played here or not, new grounds often have problem. There may be problems with the outfield. Be it Pakistan or Australia. I am sure The ICC and BCB will have a look before the series”

“But there is nothing  worry about because the other grounds in the coutnry are all prepered “

Australia will be the next team touring Bangladesh after Pakistan’s series in July-August. Australia series is scheduled in the time of September. Bangladesh currently preparing for their Champions Trophy campaign, they will feature in the tournament after 11 years.
