While KL missed T20 tournament due to a shoulder issue, Vijay had problems in his wrist. He played for India with an issue in his wrist. Later though, it also saw him missing Test series against Sri Lanka (July/ August) as well. Coming to R Ashwin, he was ruled out due to a sports hernia.
Other players like Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Umesh Yadav also missed few games due to issues which occurred after the long home season. They are also in line to get compensation from BCCI.
The board has adopted a policy to compensate players for the amount which they miss out on when they miss IPL games; if they suffer an injury while on national duty.
This does not just motivate players to work on fitness rather playing IPL, also allows them to miss the T20 tournament in case a player thinks he is not fit and wants rest to be fit for national duty.
