Board of Control for Cricket in India(BCCI) president Shashank Manohar has fervently urged the other board members to corroborate to a few decisions as the board was going through turbulent times and resuscitation measures would have to be taken to revive its past glory, as they would protect the autonomy of the board.
The board was sullied by the 2013 Indian Premier League spot fixing scandal where a probe by Justice Mudgal committee was ordered by the honourable Supreme Court.Manohar has thus referred to his second term as challenging mentioning the turbulent times the board is going through.
The BCCI , according to him, needed to improve upon the dimensions of efficiency, transparency and accountability towards the country and it’s citizens regarding the utilisation of funds and had already taken the first step towards better governance by releasing all information regarding rules and regulations.
He sought support of countrymen and fellow members to bring about certain amendments in the rules and regulations, frame rules of conflict of interest, frame rules for accreditation for Player Managers. He also requested to make best endeavours to work towards eradicating corruption from the game of cricket at the state level and assist the BCCI in its efforts to restore the faith of the cricket loving public in cricket.
BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur also mentioned of situations that lead to cancellations in the board’s annual general meeting that finally occurred in 2013 in his annual secretary’s report and also added that the National Cricket Academy committee has also embarked on a mission to release online applications for coaching so as to take cricket to the grassroot level in the real sense.
