BCCI Not To Take Any Extreme Step On Their Champions Trophy 2017 Campaign

Board of Control for Cricket in India passed a unanimous resolution on Tuesday that they will ask the International Cricket Council to hold on to the ICC’s “Big Three” revenue model until June. International Cricket Council’s annual general meeting is going to held in London in June. BCCI’s resolution has asked ICC to hold on to the model until that time.

Earlier BCCI threatened the ICC to back out from the Champions Trophy because of their new proposed reforms which will cut Indian board’s revenue. Most of the members present at the special general meeting were against on taking such extreme position on Indian team’s participation on ICC Champions Trophy 2017 which is scheduled from 1st June to 18th June in England. The Indian team will start their campaign as defending champions. Top Official said,

“A resolutions has been passed at the SGM that we will ask ICC to carry on with the existing model where Australia, England and India get the Lion’s share of revenue. We will definitely workout on a new model during London meeting. This was today unanimously passed by the forum”

Amitabh Choudhary only expressed that saving India’s interest at the higher level is going to be his primary motive as representative of BCCI. And responding to the question about India’s participation on Champions trophy he said,

“Only Poets and Philosopher can answer this question”

No member of TNCA and Saurashtra Cricket Association attended the SGM. The last meeting was attended by N. Srinivasan and Niranjan Shah despite being over 70 in the age bracket. In this meeting, the only 70-year-old member was Asirbad Behera from Odisha.
